Share the Love
When I think of Valentine’s Day, I think of couples giving each other chocolates and flowers or enjoying a romantic, candlelit dinner for two. I think of grade-school kids trading candy and funny pun-filled cards with their classmates. Both traditions are charming and a fine way to celebrate the holiday. But this year, when reaching out to others is more important than ever, I decided to expand the usual customs and share the love—and gift giving—with friends, neighbors, and family members.
I knew that for Valentine’s Day 2021, I wanted to give people something useful, something that wouldn’t take up a lot of space, something they might not treat themselves to. But the inspiration for what to give came from a totally unexpected source: the coronavirus. These days, because of health concerns, we’re all doing a lot more handwashing than usual. This can dry out and damage the skin, and winter weather can add to the problem. So it’s all the more important to use rich, gentle soap and follow up with moisturizing hand lotion. That’s why those two items will be the focus of my gifts this year.
If the idea appeals to you, too, we have lots of options for you to choose from. Michel Design Works’ Handcare Caddy holds both a lightly scented gentle foaming hand soap and a creamy hand lotion. We also offer elegantly boxed lotions, soaps, and decorated soap dishes, so you can select a single item or have fun putting together your own gift group. The important part: All of our soaps and lotions are made with shea butter and other botanical ingredients that pamper and protect the skin.
You can select soaps and lotions from any of our design collections, but to connect my gifts to Valentine’s Day, I’ve chosen two: Royal Rose and Peony. Their colors are perfect for the holiday, and their meanings are, too. Roses symbolize love, gratitude, grace, and joy. Peonies symbolize romance and good fortune. I wish all of these things to you and your loved ones this Valentine’s Day.
